April Superhero of the Month

She has been training with us last fall and is now training for a Spartan Race! What you may not know is that she was battling a long term illness the past several years that forced her to give-up exercise until she built up her strength and stamina. How long have you worked out at Mo-Mentum Fitness?
I’ve been a member for five months.
 Why did you start working out with Mo-Mentum Fitness?

My husband, Jeff (aka Mo-Venger) and I moved to Huntington Beach from Virginia.  We drove by the gym and it caught Jeff’s eye.  He just knew at that moment that Mo-Mentum Fitness was going to be our new gym and asked me to check it out while he was at work. The next day I stopped in and spoke with Steve.  The gym’s format sounded great but I was so accustomed to large, chain style gyms that I wouldn’t try Mo-Mentum unless he did it first on a trial basis.  Well, the truth is I was chicken.  Jeff had such a great start I had no excuse.  And we all know, “Excuses don’t build strength”!

How has working out with Mo-Mentum Fitness impacted your life?

Training with Mo-Mentum Fitness has been life changing.  I didn’t think I was ever going to be able to run again after battling a long term illness. After a few weeks training at Mo-Mentum Fitness, my body and mind grew stronger.  My legs developed the strength needed to start jogging, and I developed the courage to believe in myself again. 

How has working out with Mo-Mentum Fitness impacted your life?

What is your advice for a healthy life?

Accentuate the positive. Everything should be cause for a celebration, no matter how small.

What is your favorite healthy snack?

Avocados! And I also love a handful of mixed, unsalted nuts.

What health/fitness goal are you most proud of achieving?

I am so proud of my growth at Mo-Mentum Fitness. I’ve attended two law enforcement academies and the classes at Mo-Mentum Fitness can challenge even the toughest recruits.

How has working out helped you in other areas of life?

Gaining strength and stamina has enabled me to regain a healthy, vibrant life again. To Jeff’s dismay, now I can shop longer. He is really starting to not like this Lorna Jane woman.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Thank you to all the trainers. Each one of you have challenged me to grow and heal. And thank you to all the members. I really enjoy coming to class and sharing all the laughs with you. I haven’t enjoyed working out like this in years.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
